Hindhead is the hilltop village above the Devil’s Punch Bowl. It’s been much quieter since the A3 went into the Hindhead Tunnel in 2011. It’s about five and a half miles east of Bordon, and I clean carpets, sofas, rugs and mattresses in Hindhead and Beacon Hill.

Getting to Hindhead from Bordon
I follow the B3002 through Headley Down and Grayshott to where it meets the A333 at Hindhead. It’s about 7.5 miles by road and roughly 20 minutes. The A325 and A3 through the tunnel is an alternative.

Hindhead homes
Hindhead grew in the late 1800s, when the hills were known for their healthy air. Arthur Conan Doyle lived here at Undershaw from 1897 to 1907. There are big Victorian and Edwardian houses, later family homes and flats. Large older houses often have wide landings and long hallways, so tell me roughly how much carpet there is and I’ll give you a firm price.
